The Park’s History

Let’s take it back to the start. The park opened back in 1884 and allowed the Huddersfield people to enjoy the land of Greenhead Hall, a wealthy estate that is where Greenhead College currently sits. Much of the park that was originally there is still standing and can be seen by the public today. Some examples of these are The Entrance Lodge, the Italian Gardens, the Main Lake (originally filled in 1954 then restored in 2010), and the Bandstand. The Friends of Greenhead Park work hard to maintain these buildings for the public to enjoy.
