Things To Do In Slaithwaite

Slaithwaite is one of Huddersfield’s many hidden gems!

Slaithwaite, or ‘Slawit’, is a beautiful little village located in the Colne Valley between the River Colne and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. There are few places that beat Slawit when it comes to walking trails, with canal-side walks feeling like something out of a storybook.

There are also many great cafes, restaurants, bars, pubs and arts and crafts centres for the children. If you’re planning a trip to Huddersfield or passing through Slawit, check out these interesting things to do:

Canal Walk

You can take a lovely walk from Slaithwaite to Marsden. The route runs for a distance of about 3 miles, running along the flat towpath so perfect for an afternoon stroll. On the way you’ll pass a number of pretty locks, canal barges, historic mills, weirs and canalside pubs where you can stop for a bite to eat.
