Simon Armitage + LYR

An evening of poetry and music awaits featuring Poet Laureate Simon Armitage and the band LYR.

Simon will perform poetry followed by LYR’s live act, including singer-songwriter Richard Walters and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Pearson.

Simon’s latest collection, “Never Good with Horses,” showcases his diverse repertoire and keen musical language. LYR combines vocal melodies and ambient sounds, creating an enchanting backdrop for poetic verses.

There will be a brief interval between the poetry and musical performances.

LYR, established in 2018, has gained prominence with acclaimed albums like “Call in the Crash Team” (2020) and their recent release, “The Ultraviolet Age.” They’ve graced major festivals and sold-out venues across the UK.

Simon Armitage, renowned Poet Laureate, boasts numerous awards, including the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry. With over a dozen poetry collections and notable translations, he also collaborates with LYR and received an Ivor Novello Award for songwriting. His recent work showcases his songwriting prowess.
