Intermediate Machine Knitting Class

Participants can learn how to utilise the ribber attachment and acquire additional knitting machine skills during a three-hour session.

The session, conducted by textile designer-maker and educator Amy Chen, will cover the use of the ribber attachment and various techniques for creating textured knits on a domestic knitting machine.

This class is designed for individuals who have a foundational understanding of machine knitting, such as the topics covered in the Beginner Machine Knitting class. Amy Chen, known for her work in textiles and technology, ranging from e-textiles to knitting with modified vintage knitting machines, will be delivering the instruction. Each session will have a small teaching group, with a maximum of four participants.

All necessary yarns will be provided for the session. Participants can expect to learn hand-manipulated textures like cables, as well as techniques for creating bobbles and 3D shapes through partial knitting. Additionally, the session will cover the setup and casting on process for the ribber attachment, as well as various ribber knit patterns such as pleated knit, circular knits, and ribbed patterns.

The location for this session is the CollaborARTi shop on Victoria Lane (HD1 2QF).
